When knives first began to appear as pocket knives, they were developed so that they could virtually fold in half and be able to ride in a secure, hidden location. When the knives were opened, it was usually done with a thumb or another finger, which meant that a person would have to use two hands in order to open up his knife. This is something that worked for many people, but could also be dangerous in the long run.
This is part of why liner lock knives were developed. With the liner lock knife, it is possible to open and close the blade with only one hand in a safe manner. The knife was designed by Michael Walker who took what was at one time called the electrician’s knife, and made some adjustments to it. The electrician’s knife was a knife that had a button which you could press to open and close it. However, it did not lock. Knife maker Walker changed the older style so that it would lock, which meant a safer sturdier blade.
The liner lock knife that can be found in hunting and fishing equipment stores today are commonly referred to as folding knives. When the knife is unfolded, it is held open by a leaf spring or lockbar system. The lockbar presses against the bottom of the blade and does not allow it to close until the lockbar is pressed. Then, it closes by itself. It will stay closed until the lockbar is pressed one more time.
The liner lock knife is useful because it allows you to safely keep your knife closed when you do not want to be using it. It locks the blade closed so that it will not come open by accident. This mechanism creates a way to keep a knife in the house or in a tackle box without worrying about the safety of other people that may be digging in drawers or boxes to retrieve it. The liner lock knife also works to lock the knife open, so that you will not have to worry about the knife falling shut accidentally on unsuspecting fingers or constantly collapsing while you are trying to complete a task. The lockbar on the liner lock knife works in both ways.
The liner lock knife also allows you to open and close the blade with one hand. This makes the entire knife much easier and convenient to use. These blades are also made of strong materials, typically steel or titanium, to better withstand rigorous use and the constant movement of the internal mechanism. These materials can also withstand rust and tend to maintain their sharpness better than other metals. With this type of construction, it is reassuring to users that the knife will last.
Whether for outdoor use or for your home, having a solid folding knife at your disposal is important. If you do not have one, consider a liner lock knife for its safety, ease-of-use and durability.

Anti lock braking system, abbreviated as ABS, is an advanced car security system fitted in many of the modern Indian cars to prevent skidding. The term is derived from the German term ?antiblockiersystem?.
The main objective of anti-lock braking system is to enhance stability and stopping capability of the car. While driving on slopes or slippery surfaces, the car has a tendency of skidding. In such cases, the innovative anti lock brakes help in locking the wheels and prevent skidding. Locked wheels on concrete cement sometimes create flat spots but in case of anti lock brakes, these spots are prevented.
Components
An ABS system mainly comprise of electronic control unit, four wheel sensors, hydraulic valves and vehicle brakes. The electronic control unit helps in monitoring and regulating the rotational speed of each wheel. Four wheel sensors help in scanning the speed of each wheel and if the control unit reads low speed then other wheels are locked automatically. Hydraulic valves help in reducing the pressure on each wheel, effectively lowering down the braking force on individual wheels. Vehicle brakes further help in building pressure back up through the hydraulic motor.
Raw Materials
Most of the new cars found on Indian roads are equipped with anti lock brakes composed of soft iron, mainly cast. Iron is used because it has high magnetic permeability and low magnetic reluctance. These properties help in passing magnetization to each tooth of the brake and cause momentary concentration. The electronic controller is composed of cast aluminium housing and the hydraulic brakes are made using copper coil elements with steel valves and bodies. They are housed in the same casing composed of cast aluminum. All the electrical wiring in the system is composed of copper usually with cross-linked polyethylene insulation. Connectors are made using plastic with internal copper contacts.
Types
There are mainly three types of anti-lock brakes: four channel four sensors ABS, three channel three sensors ABS and one channel one sensor ABS. Four channel four sensors ABS is a system with speed sensors fitted on all four wheels with a separate valve. This helps in monitoring rotation speed of each wheel and ensures that each wheel achieves maximum braking force. Three channel three sensors ABS is a system with speed sensors and valves fitted on each of the front wheels and one common sensors and valve for both the rear wheels. This helps in monitoring the speed of individual front wheels for maximum braking force and combined monitoring of rear wheels which reduces the braking force. One channel one sensor is a system with one sensor and one valve for monitoring all four wheels. This system is mainly used in trucks.

Back in the past, you needed to buy a luxury car in order to have one of those handy power door locks on your car. Everyone else was stuck with the ordinary door locks – the kind requiring you to have your key handy every time you want to unlock your vehicle. These days, however, everyone seems to own one. You see people all over, pushing their keypad to open their specific car parked somewhere in a parking lot full of cars. Hardly anyone with a newer vehicle has to suffer the extra effort of actually using their car keys to unlock their vehicle or push the door locked when they leave their car anymore.
Believe it or not, power door locks have been around for nearly a half century. This feature was initially used on a particular kind of luxury Packard. It took a number of years until this convenient feature was gradually introduced and used as a standard feature on luxury vehicles everywhere. Now, you needn’t buy a luxury car to have a power door lock as on option on your automobile.
While it’s easy to get out of the habit, you still can open and lock your door the regular way. Regular door locks are installed on every vehicle and your key still works in the lock provided on the outside of the vehicle. You may never need them but, if the battery on the remote keypad goes bad, at least you have a backup method of getting into your car.
This optional feature has some major advantages over the regular method of opening your car. For example, it’s very easy to use and you can have your arms full while still being able to open your vehicle without digging for your keys, trying to get into your car without dropping something. With this power feature, all you need to do is push the remote keypad, grab the handle and open your car door.
Another helpful thing about remote power door locks is that the remote often opens all the doors to the car at the same time. That way, if you have children, they can get themselves into the car without you having to unlock another door to let them in. In addition, if you’re putting your groceries onto the passenger seat, the door is already open for you to throw them in and hop into the driver’s side without messing with locks and keys.
There are actually two types of systems available in remotely-operated power door locks. If you have the more complex system, there will be a body controller in the automobile that monitors a specific radio frequency; when you send the correct code to the controller, it unlocks the car door. If you own the simpler system, you send a signal to actuators in the vehicle which lock or unlock the car door. There are lots of these kinds of locks available and many different companies manufacture them. If you don’t own one but want one installed after purchasing your vehicle, it takes only a couple of hours and can be installed in almost any car. The costs of such a system depend on the type of system you acquire.

?Should I lock my loan? Are the rates going up? Are the rates going down? What?s the market supposed to do in the next week?? These are questions that every experienced loan officer has been asked by his or her customers on various occasions. I?ll tell you one thing, if I had a hard and fast answer to any of these questions, I would be reading a book on my own private yacht in the Mediterranean Sea. And my butler would be asking me what I wanted for lunch.
Here?s the deal on locking in your loan. Typically a standard lock is for 30 days. This gives all parties involved in the transaction adequate time to complete their responsibility in the loan process. If you are closing within 30 days, you should probably go ahead and lock your rate, provided you are comfortable with the terms quoted to you. What if the rate goes down .125%? I counter and ask what if the rate goes up .125%? Are you willing to risk it?
If you are happy with your payment, then I advise you to lock in the rate. Your mortgage lender will give you a picture of the general trend of interest rates, or you can research it for yourself. Find the loan payment amount you are aiming for and focus on this issue to lock your loan. I?ve seen it happen plenty of times: everyone speculates the rates are going down, but the next day you see a .25% increase. Of course the converse does happen at times, but I haven?t seen it happen as much!
I?ve had customers who have checked with me every day to see where the rates are and I?ve never seen this vigilance result in a significant rate improvement. Not to say it can?t happen, I?m just relaying the odds from personal experience that it won?t. But, if this course is what my customer is most happy taking, I?m just as happy to update them daily till they feel comfortable locking. But keep in mind it?s a gamble. If it was easy, there would be a lot of folks on the beach with their butlers. It is very difficult to predict short term movements in the market. Try it for a few days just for fun, and you?ll see what I mean.
When a loan is locked, your mortgage company has made a commitment to provide a product at that note rate to its secondary market source. If the rates go down, you still are expected to close at your locked rate. If the rates go up, you still expect to close at your locked rate. A lock represents a commitment from the customer and the lender. So, find your comfort zone and lock your rate. Spend your time worrying about what you?re going to do with all the money you saved on your refinance or how you are possibly going to get boxes packed in time to move in two weeks!

Large security companies are leading the way in home safety with their electronic software and programs that directly link a modem to public assistance. The problem with the locks used by security companies is that it is not your typical lock and key system. These companies use an intelligent system of <a onClick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=”http://www.Find-A-Locksmiths.com”>electronic locks</a>. Unlike a lock and key system, electronic or electric locks require a little more detail in case of malfunction. Along with these measures comes the need for the locksmith to have readily available specialized equipment in case of a malfunction. Although the biggest difference between electronic and normal locks is the automatic and manual function of the locks, the role of a locksmith is still the same.

One of the simplest kinds of combination lock, is seen in simple bicycle locks,
uses several rotating discs that have notches into them.
The lock is secured with a pin with several teeth on it which hook into the rotating discs.
with the teeth on the pin When the notches in the discs align, the lock can be opened.
This type of lock is considered to be one of the least secure of combination lock.
. Opening one in this fashion depends on slight irregularities in the machining of the parts.
Unless the lock is aligned precisely, when the pin is pulled outward, one of the teeth will pull more strongly
than the others on its disc. This disc is then rotated to a slight click is heard,
telling us that the tooth has settled . The procedure is repeated for the remaining discs,
resulting in an opening lock, and a correct combination, in very little time.
Combination locks found on padlocks and may use a single dial which interacts with several parallel discs .
Customarily,

This is the best way to avoid one of the most famous scams the mortgage industry plays on the public. When you apply for the loan at XYZ Mortgage Company you get quoted a great rate say 4%. No other mortgage company can beat this rate so you do the loan with XYZ. But at closing the rate on the paperwork shows 6.9%!
What happened? XYZ scammed you. And if you say no to the loan at closing you lose the house because the contract will probably expire. So most people just take the loan at the much higher than market rate.
The way to avoid this is to get your mortgage company to LOCK your rate, and to show you the confirmation of the rate lock. Each lender sends either a fax or an email confirming a rate lock. This then goes into the loan file.
DEMAND to see this confirmation. It is the only way to be sure that you will not get scammed at the closing table.
Real estate novices and enthusiasts alike are always savvy enough to shop around for lenders providing the lowest mortgage interest rates. In addition, they may seek out more favorable terms and easier repayment periods. When you’ve found a lender willing to provide you with the terms you need, it makes sense to apply through them. The question stands: will the outlined terms be the one you follow? With rates changing by the day, how do you ensure your costs stay down with mortgage loans? A way to calm the storm is by asking for a lock commitment.
To start, a lock commitment is a promise made by the lender to keep a certain interest rate for a period of time throughout the loan application process. Remember, the interest rate upon application filing could be 6.9% while the interest rate upon application processing could increase to 7.4%. Many times, the quote you apply for does not remain the same throughout the application process. For this reason, it is important to search for a lender that will lock down the interest rate through all phases of the mortgage application process from application to approval.
Lock commitments serve a myriad of benefits. For starters, loan applications can take a very long time to be prepared. Lock in protection could make or break your ability to pay for the mortgage. Keep in mind that lock commitments could work against you in preventing you from taking advantage of price drops (unless you get prior consent from the lender.) Analyze the market trends and mortgage interest rate activity to make the best educated guess on whether mortgage rates will go up or down.
Remember, lock commitments are meant to be acted upon. If you don’t settle for the interest rate specified during the lock in time frame, you might lose the interest rate. All processing delays may negatively impact keeping the rate as well. Delays might be caused by lenders waiting for additional paperwork from you during the application process. In addition, lenders might be at fault for delays, especially when there is a high demand for their loans when the market dictates falling interest rates.
Your lock commitment should also state all approved terms, how long the promise is valid, and any conditions needed to follow through with the loan (i.e. a lender receiving an insurance policy or a required credit score) Lock commitments are best served on paper. Verbal agreements are very sketchy and hard to deal with in the courtroom should a legal situation arise. Expect to pay a small fee for a lock in, which can be made either up front or upon settlement. If it’s a flat fee or a percentage of the total mortgage total varies according to lenders. Look to a lock commitment today to secure the favorable mortgage rate for your home buying future.

Changing your locks may sound like a simple task, but this is true only if you know what you are doing. There are many different styles of handles on the market. The locking mechanisms on certain styles vary and each has a unique function. If you are going to change your locks, be sure to know what type works best and why. Here is some useful information on styles and basics of changing a lock. Knowing what the lock is used for is important in finding the style that best meets your security needs.
Free through Passage Handles: These handles are exactly as they sound. You will not have to worry about locks. They come in either a knob type handle style or a level style which is very popular. Before purchasing these handles, though, be sure you do not need a lock.
Privacy Door Knobs: These handles are often used in the bedroom or bathroom. You can unlock the door by either turning the knob or turning an extra switch on the inside of the door. These are great for those areas where privacy is desired most.
Security Deadbolt Lock: The single deadbolt lock is a great style lock is good for any entrance to the home, whether the front or back door. However, it is best to use this lock with doors that do not have side lights or a glass pane since entrance would be fairly easy. One would only have to break the glass and reach in to turn the knob. The double deadbolt lock can provide extra strength and security to your doors. It can be locked form the inside or the outside using a key. You can also add a chain, for example, to provide even more security.
Decorative Door Knobs, Deadbolt and Latch Set: These handles help improve your home’s appearance. They are often placed on French doors. You can also use them on pantries if there is nothing hazardous inside, which should be kept from small children for instance. There are no locks on these decorative handles, but a little more security can be implemented with a decorative deadbolt and latch set. You can use these two pieces together or by themselves, depending on your needs.
You must now determine if the door handle you currently have is appropriate. To make this determination, you should first look at the latch plate. The hole may not be deep enough for a higher quality latch. Open and remove the existing latch plate, which is on the inside of your door. If it does not fit into the old hole, you will need to chisel the hole to give it a deeper depth. Also, be sure to check that the plunger for the deadbolt lines up with the hole in the frame since the lock will not provide proper security otherwise. Adding longer screws into the pre-drilled areas on the latch plate can add extra security.

When you buy a new bike lock you need to buy the one that is going to guarantee that your bike will not get stolen it is better to have a bike than have to walk. It does not matter how often you ride your bike or how you ride your bike you are always going to need a bike lock if you go some where in public with your bike. If you’re going to the store real quick someone who needs a new bike only needs a minute to steal your bike while you’re inside the store.
This crime happens everywhere. Even though New York has the most number of bikes stolen every town and small city will have its bike stealers. There are all kinds of bikes that can be stolen from a thousand dollar race machine to a junky bike just needed by someone to make it home. Some thieves will steal the bikes to sell them and get money for your bike. Maybe a thief just needs a ride to get somewhere and he needs your bike and you are not watching it at the time. If you have a cheap lock on the bike the thief could pick it or clip it.
If you have that cheap lock and it has been working for you your day may soon come. You need to buy a lock that is going to make sure that your bike is safe. You can buy any kind of lock. You will need something that will have some sort of key not a combination as someone with a good bit of luck could just say, “oh lets try it just for a second”, and might pick your lock and steal your ride.
Chain locks are the other really good type of lock. They can be very heavy and a thieve wont think about clipping the chain it will probably make a lot of noise and also probably wont be worth going to jail or getting beat up over. The bigger locks that are out there on the market will help you with securing your bike though and companies like bell will make a good lock for you. If you buy the right bike lock then you will be able to ride anywhere you want and be able to lock it up anywhere you want without it getting stolen. That’s the last thing you would want to happen as you ride up to the store for a soda is to walk out and see your bike gone when you could have just bought a lock for your bike. So do the right thing for your ride and buy the lock so it doesn’t get jacked like all your other bikes did.
